Did you know most computer issues can be prevented by a little maintenance.
Some signs* that could identify you have a dust problem, are:
- Computer runs slower than usual
- Your computer resets after being on for a while
- Your computer freezes (ie: no mouse movement, no keyboard shortcuts work) while in use
*these issues, even if they have been occurring for a short time, can also mean your computer has hardware issues and a full clean up and system check will identify an issue before it gets worse
Computers in normal use, use fans to move air across heat sinks to cool critical parts in your computer.
These fans, as well as moving air will suck dust in, and this dust will accumulate in and around -
- The cooling fins of your CPU (processor)
- Other heat sinks in your system
(Video cards/motherboard chipsets)
- Your Power Supply
(has a fan as well as a large heatsink)
- Under you motherboard against the back panel
(add humidity to a large clump of dust and short circuits are know to happen)
